Wanstead High School - Let down by Tory Council

9.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 14th Apr 2009

Despite all the hype from the Tory council about investment in a new science block for Wanstead High School, Kate Garrett and the Liberal Democrats have discovered that no funds have been earmarked for this over the next year. The list of improvements for 2009/10 includes many Ilford projects but does not include this badly needed science block for Wanstead School. In fact, although the bulk of the money for this refurbishment has actually been budgeted for 2011/2012, no funding source has been identified. There is no certainty therefore that this refurbishment will ever be a reality unless the Tory council commits to a funding source. This will be a great disappointment to the students, parents and staff of Wanstead High School who lobbied the council for the much- needed science block during last year's "Redbridge Conversation". Once again, Wanstead has been ignored by its Tory councillors. It really is 'time for a change'.
