Redbridge Council - Consultation or Con?

9.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 1st Oct 2008

Redbridge Council has received over 5,000 replies to its consultation about Council plans in the borough. Residents' replies show support for more spending on schools and do not want allotments or car parks to be sold off. Unfortunately for the Council residents do not want to spend money on the Council's so called Unity Square Regeneration Scheme in Ilford Town Centre. The Tory council have already spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on this pet project, which will involve building skyscrapers at the back of Ilford Town Hall.

Leyton and Wanstead Liberal Democrats say "Residents don't back the Town Centre project but will this stop the Tories from spending more money to get it started? We will keep you informed of the outcome."
